You walk in for coffee and leave with a new favorite artist. That’s what happens when you experience art the way it should be—accessible, authentic, and connected to the community around you.

Our rotating exhibitions showcase emerging Brooklyn talent in an intimate setting where you can actually talk to artists, understand their work, and maybe even take a piece home. No pretentious gallery speak, no intimidating atmosphere—just great art, great coffee, and real conversations about creativity.

Every month brings fresh perspectives to our walls, from bold contemporary pieces to thoughtful mixed media installations. You’re not just viewing art; you’re becoming part of Brooklyn’s creative ecosystem.

Boerum Hill Coffee Shop Gallery

Built by Brooklyn, For Brooklyn

We’ve been serving Boerum Hill’s creative community since opening our doors on this tree-lined corner where art and coffee culture naturally converge. We’re not trying to be the biggest or the flashiest—we’re focused on being the most genuine.

Our space reflects what makes this neighborhood special: independent spirit, artistic vision, and the kind of community where your barista knows your order and your favorite local painter might be sitting at the next table. We source our coffee from roasters who care about their craft as much as our featured artists care about theirs.

In a borough where authenticity matters more than Instagram followers, we’ve built something real—a place where Boerum Hill locals can discover new artists, enjoy exceptional coffee, and connect with the creative energy that makes Brooklyn home.

Attend our monthly artist receptions where you can meet the creators, learn about their process, and often purchase original works directly. About The Café Galerie

Local Artist Spotlights Brooklyn

More Than Coffee and Art

Every visit to our gallery includes access to our full rotating collection of local Brooklyn artists, artist information and background stories, and the opportunity to purchase original works directly from creators. We’re not just displaying art—we’re creating a marketplace where artists can build sustainable careers.

Our coffee program features carefully selected beans from roasters who share our commitment to quality and community. You’ll find seasonal specialties, alternative milk options, and brewing methods that highlight the unique characteristics of each coffee we serve.

Boerum Hill residents know us as the neighborhood spot where creative energy flows as freely as the coffee. We host regular community events, provide space for local meetings and creative collaborations, and maintain a bulletin board where artists and neighbors can connect for projects, studio shares, and creative partnerships that strengthen our local arts ecosystem.

How often do you change the art exhibitions at the gallery?

We rotate our main exhibition monthly, typically opening new shows on the first Thursday of each month with an artist reception from 6-8 PM. This gives you fresh artwork to discover regularly while allowing artists adequate time to connect with visitors and potential collectors.

Between major rotations, we also feature smaller spotlights and installations, so there’s always something new to see. Our goal is keeping the space dynamic and giving local artists meaningful exposure without overwhelming visitors with constant changes.

Absolutely—that’s one of the main reasons we exist. All artwork in our gallery is available for purchase, with pricing clearly displayed alongside artist information. We facilitate direct sales between artists and collectors, which means artists keep more of their earnings and you often get better prices than traditional gallery markups.

Artists typically price their work competitively for our community-focused environment. We can connect you directly with artists for custom commissions or help coordinate pickup and delivery for larger pieces. Many sales happen during our monthly artist receptions when creators are present to discuss their work personally.

We offer private event hosting during evening hours and can accommodate creative workshops, book launches, small corporate gatherings, and intimate celebrations. Our gallery setting provides a unique backdrop that’s more inspiring than typical event spaces while remaining comfortable and accessible.

For creative workshops, we have tables, good lighting, and can arrange the space to suit different activities. We’ve hosted everything from painting classes to poetry readings to small music performances. Contact us directly to discuss your vision and we’ll work with you to create an event that fits both your needs and our community-focused atmosphere.

We approach coffee with the same curatorial eye we bring to art—selecting roasters and beans that have distinct character and story behind them. Rather than sticking to one roaster, we rotate offerings to showcase different Brooklyn roasters and seasonal selections that complement our artistic environment.

Our baristas understand that great coffee enhances the gallery experience, so we focus on consistent quality and brewing methods that highlight each coffee’s unique characteristics. We also work with roasters who share our values around community support and sustainable practices, creating connections between coffee culture and artistic culture in meaningful ways.

Absolutely—we specifically designed our space to be the opposite of intimidating traditional galleries. Families are welcome, children are encouraged to look and ask questions, and we believe art should be accessible to everyone regardless of their background or experience level.

Our artists and staff are happy to talk about the work in plain language, explain techniques or inspiration, and help visitors connect with pieces that speak to them. We’ve found that some of our most meaningful conversations happen when someone says “I don’t know much about art, but I really like this piece.”

We accept submissions from Brooklyn-based artists year-round through our website contact form. Include 5-10 images of recent work, a brief artist statement, and your connection to the Brooklyn arts community. We review submissions monthly and typically book exhibitions 3-4 months in advance.

We prioritize artists who are actively engaged in Brooklyn’s creative community and whose work aligns with our mission of making art accessible and engaging for neighborhood audiences. Emerging artists are especially encouraged to apply—we believe in providing platforms for creators who are building their careers and contributing to Brooklyn’s evolving arts landscape.
